Clinical Supervision
A reflective space for therapists and counsellors
I offer clinical supervision to qualified and trainee psychotherapists and counsellors, providing a thoughtful, relational and professionally accountable space in which to explore your clinical work.
My approach to supervision is integrative and relational. I understand supervision as more than the oversight of clinical practice. It is a collaborative space in which we can think together about your clients, your therapeutic relationships, your development as a practitioner and the emotional impact of the work you undertake.
My supervisory practice pays particular attention to what may be happening within and between therapist, client and supervisor. This includes exploring relational dynamics, transference and countertransference, ethical dilemmas, professional boundaries and those moments when we may feel uncertain, stuck or affected by the work.
Difference, identity and power
My approach is informed by a commitment to anti oppressive and culturally responsive practice.
I welcome conversations about race, culture, class, gender, disability, sexuality, identity and other aspects of difference that can influence both therapeutic and supervisory relationships.
Rather than treating these as separate from clinical practice, I believe it is important that supervision provides enough safety and curiosity for questions of difference and power to be thought about openly.
I also recognise that supervision itself involves power and professional responsibility. My intention is therefore to offer a relationship in which challenge and accountability can coexist with warmth, curiosity and respect.
Developing your own clinical voice
Supervision should support you to become more confident in your own thinking rather than becoming dependent upon the supervisor for answers.
Alongside attending to client safety, ethical practice and professional standards, I am interested in helping supervisees develop their own clinical judgement, creativity and capacity for reflection.
I particularly welcome practitioners who value relational depth, creativity and critical thinking, including those who want space to explore how their personal and social identities may intersect with their clinical work.
Supervision is available face to face from my Nottingham practice and online.
